The Election Commission consists of Township Board members ~ Supervisor, Treasurer, and Clerk. The duty of the Election Commission is mandated to appoint Election Inspectors and Chairperson for each election held. Carp Lake Township normally appoints up to 5 members to serve as Election Inspectors.
The Election Commission meeting has to be held a month or less prior to the date of election. It can not be held before according to law. Currently, the meeting has been taking place after the regular Township Board meeting has adjourned.
The Clerk has to make sure there are both Democrat and Republican Inspectors, as required by law. When needing to hire an election inspector, notices are placed on the township bulletin board. Applications are handed out to hire election inspectors when necessary.
